From cave art to calligraphy, wedgewood to umbra, and war posters to graphic novels, the history of design is saturated with inspirational stories and ideas. Our design history is like the surface of the moon — marked with the trends and influences that now impact our future. We’ve made it this far into the 21st century with a depth of design history and culture behind us, so how do we now take risks and propel ourselves into the next hundred years of design?

What design objects have shaped how we view the world today? Does modern-day design improve our daily lives or hinder it? How concerned should we be about sustainability? And how will social media and digital technology affect the next decade?

IABC Ottawa and Pivot Design Group host this DesignMeets event on March 21st. Join us to participate in the discussion and hear speakers from different design disciplines share their perspectives on “Decades of Design – taking risks, making change, building futures”.
